Yesterday, I went and bought yarn. In and of itself, this is really boring to the world at large (sorry!) but since I've just gotten back into knitting and begun attempting things other than completely flat rectangles, I'm still pretty excited.
Also, because this was the second excursion to this yarn store. Not to it, per se, but the second attempt to locate it. It's in a neighboring town that I haven't ever driven myself to. The directions that I figured out via the lovely, lovely Google Maps were a little odd, as there was a weird little nobbly thing on the map that I wasn't sure of. But I figured that there was a slight detour that would be easy enough to follow.
Note:

Where A. is the road I was driving, and B. is the destination. See that weird little road do-hinky (it was hard to capture when drawing with Photoshop, so my apologies. It was weird looking, though, and was a highway.) to the east of B.? Yeah, I wanted to avoid that. So, I figured I would turn on road C instead, and then turn onto the road that B was on. No problem!
So last Sunday I set out an hour before they closed. And drove down A. And turned onto C. And then drove and drove and drove and wound up in the middle of nowhere, following a pickup truck hauling a trailer with horses. When that vehicle turned onto a side road, I knew that I had probably driven too far. That, and the fact that I had been driving for about twenty minutes already, and still not found the turnoff.

Nowhere was the sign for road B. Nowhere. Instead, I wound up around F. point, several several miles out. Ooops. So, I turned around and went home, where I re-googled the address. Turns out that road C? Called by a different name up at that intersection.
So yesterday, exactly a week after my previous unfulfilled visit, I headed back. I turned on B, and then turned on C, and drove. And drove and drove and drove until I passed the second form of road A and then... kept going. And going, and going.
Because, fuck, I forgot to write down the street address. I was on the right street, and I was in the right area, as there were businesses left and right. Literally. And then, when I kept driving, there were no more businesses, and instead there were just houses. And then fields. Crap crap crap! I pulled over and called someone to look online for the street number for me. And then I turned around and found it.
And I'm so glad I did, because it's just the most adorable little shop, and I found some yarn I've been looking for. Also because seriously? There was no way I was going to make a THIRD attempt to find that place.
