I spent the majority of election night with my knitting group at a bar. A bar which was the most packed that I'd ever seen it, with all the TVs turned to CNN, and for once there was no music blasting. Instead, every time CNN would project an Obama win, the place would erupt in cheers and applause.
When it was all but certain the Obama would win, I left in order to be able to hear some of the election coverage. It only seemed right - I've spent countless hours listening to discussion about the then-coming election, I needed to hear some of tonight's discussion.
And now it's almost over - McCain has conceded, Obama's way over the necessary electoral votes - and I hardly have words. I am so very relieved and thankful that it turned out this way, yet it doesn't seem real. It probably won't until Obama's victory speech.
